Each week, I publish a list of best fitness articles from the previous week. These articles range from a wide variety of topics like nutrition, training, stress management, weight loss, general health, recipes, etc. Here is the list from the week of May 22 – May 28.
1. How Intense Workouts Can Ruin Your Results: Courtesy of Dr. John Berardi on Precision Nutrition
In the health and fitness world the concept of doing more is a prevailing theme. If a little bit of cardio is good then more must be better, right? If I’m not lying on the floor gasping for air at the end of my workout it wasn’t hard enough. But it’s thoughts like this that can prevent us from accomplishing our real goals. In this article, Dr. Berardi talks about how to work less, get great results, and find balance.
2. Don’t Put The Cookie Down: Courtesy of Jonathan Acosta on Tonygentilcore.com
Restrictive dieting doesn’t work, plain and simple. But what does work, and works very well I might add, is building up small habits overtime. In this article, Jonathan walks you through why building habits are vital to seeing long-term changes in your body. Note: I don’t agree with calling a treat-type food (i.e. dessert) a reward like he mentions in the article. As I talked about in my article this week, Do You Need To Earn Your Carbohydrates I think this sets a person up to view food in a negative light. Other than that, I thought the article was great.
3. Food Is Not A Reward. Fitness Is Not A Punishment: Courtesy of Neghar Fonooni on Girls Gone Strong
It’s funny, this article and my article from this week are on the same topic. This one is slightly different in that it talks about fitness as well. Neghar hits the nail on the head in this post. She talks about how to get your mindset right so that you don’t view food as a reward and exercise as punishment. Because when you do, you’re bound to fail and fail hard.
4. How Protein Shakes Help You Lose Weight And Belly Fat: Courtesy of Alina Petre on Authority Nutrition
I encourage most of my clients to use a protein powder supplement. In all of my experience, most people do not get enough protein in their diet. This is especially important for those looking to shed a few pounds. In this article, Alina talks about how protein shakes can help you lose weight and cut fat.
5. 9 Ways For Women To Be More Not Less: Courtesy of Nia Shanks on Niashanks.com
Nia has been writing some great articles lately and this one is no different. Most women today feel the pressure that society places on them to be smaller or skinner. In this article, Nia cuts through the crap and outlines 9 ways for women to be more not less.
